We’re a husband-and-wife team. Not a faceless investor.

I’m Peter Gadsden. My wife Carni and I run Gadsden Johnston Property out of Perth. We buy older homes directly from owners — homes that need work, or that are sitting empty, or that the family just wants gone without a year-long agent process.

I’m a qualified carpenter with 33 years in the trades. I ran my own residential building company in Brisbane for 12 years before moving to Perth and spending a decade in major project planning across the WA mining sector. That means when we look at your house, we know what’s structural and what’s cosmetic. We don’t lowball you on imaginary problems, and we don’t undercut on the easy stuff. We also fund every purchase ourselves or with capital we’ve personally invested alongside — there’s no third-party investor pressuring us to chip your price down.

Carni handles the conversations and Peter does the walkthroughs. Our son works alongside us. This is genuinely a family business, not a marketing front for a faceless investor. We’ve built this around the kind of selling experience we’d want our own parents to have.

How do you work out what to offer?

We look at recent sales of comparable Perth homes, then subtract what it'll honestly cost us to bring it up to a saleable standard plus a reasonable margin. We'll show you our working if you want to see it.

Will you offer me less than market value?

Yes, almost always. That's the trade-off — you skip the agent fees (typically 2–3% = $15–25k on a $700k Perth home), repair costs, months of holding costs, open homes, and the uncertainty of waiting. For some sellers that's a great trade. For others it isn't.

How fast can it actually settle?

As fast as 14 days if you need it, or as long as 6 months if you'd rather take your time. Your call.
